My friends 05 LLY Reg cab is suffering from loss of prime in the mornings( wont start unless the plunger is pumped)

Just started Happening again.

Did the same thing last winter.

Dealer checked it out Last winter and couldnt find a leak.

Im thinking a cracked filter housing or bad fuel line??

Anyone else have this prob?

He has no lift pump.

Did set codes P0204- Injector Circ Error CYL 4

P2146 Fuel injector Group A Supply voltage Circ/open.

Any insight is appreciated. Our dealer sometimes needs " Steered" in the right direction with diesels.:D

The codes sound like an injector harness problem, which the LLY's are known for.

X2.................and the loss-of-prime is likely the O-ring in the primer-pump. We have found a matching O-ring from a differant application, but if you will pull it off and match it up, it should fix the problem. (this worn O-ring has given us several differant symtems.............slow start, codes, sucking air, fuel leak if truck has lift pump, primer pump won't work, some DO work, etc.)
Good luck!
Ed.

Thankyou guys!

I'll have some info to help get the truck fixed now, 50,000 miles still under warranty.

Appreciate the suggestions!

I had the same problem about a month ago. Mine turned out to be the o-ring on the bleeder valve next to the primer. And I never had problems with gelling in my powerstroke, but for some reason I do in the Dmax. So I just run some diesel cleen in it sometimes. Haven't had the starting problem anymore, and it runs better. Good luck. Hope ya'll figure it out.:coolspot:

Update.

The dealer replaced the filter housing.

also found a bare wire coming out of the FCIM ( ?? Sp.? )

All seems to be working fine now for the last 3 weeks.

Hope this helps some of you guys.
