Common lly issue. Around here it is around 4 grand to have them done. Parts are around 900.00 with studs. Machine work varies.
Yep, only reason I've never owned an lly...

Run the truck up to operating temp. (hose will be very hard, can't be squeezed together) Let the truck cool completely, usually over night (hose should be fairly soft, easily squeezed together). If it's soft, I would put a new cap on it and see how it acts.
For what it's worth my LLY went 95K before I lost a head gasket. It's had double stacked tunes in it's early days and a 600+ rwhp tune for the last 5 years... My head gaskets owed me nothing.

Yep overflow cap. I would try that first...

Are you talking about the heater core.? I came pretty close to breaking the plastic connector of the hose while installing my downpipe.

All the Lily's I've seen have weird problems that you think are fixed. Everyone has had gaskets, eventually it will leak from the passengers side head at the back near the fire wall...

Simple, cheap solutions are the best, no matter how you find them. Glad for you. :thumb:

Found one on my truck a couple weeks after replacing the alternator with a higher at idle output amperage. The wires coming out of the alternator where it disappears into the larger harness were rubbed through, no charging issues just doing my every 2 month inspection and started pulling some loose tape when I found them...
So this seems to be a common issue on the LLY... The question is; WHY?
My '05 is doing it now at 154,000 miles!
Is it always the same side that goes? and which side is it?
Who has an upgrade gasket so it does not happen again?
Why is there no coolant mixing with the oil?
Someone mentioned Head Studs. Do I need to replace them as well? The truck is stock...
Can I do just the Head Gasket or is it necessary to do all the others I see in various kits?
Any one have a recommended procedure for the gasket replacement?
Thank for the help!
