Help: 05 duramax no power.

I just bought a 2005 duramax with 200k miles. It runs good at lower speeds but when I go to get on the highway it starts running really sluggish at 3000 rpm's and dumping thick clouds of black smoke. Any suggestions on where to start?

Have someone look at the turbo vein position vs desired vein postion. I would bet thats gonna be your issue, and get your signature filled out so we can help you better...

Ok thanks guys. I will work on getting everything filled out. And the truck is completely stock as far as I can tell

Check the boost tubes and boots. Might have a hole in the tube where it contacts the power steering hose.

Also clean the MAF. There is a special cleaner available at the parts store.

EGR might be opening up too
