My truck is doing some crazy things.sometimes crusing along in 5th gear it will act like i took and shifted it into neutral,as soon soon as i let off the gas and hit it again it is fine and i have noticed it does it when i hit rather large bumps,it only does it in 5th gear and a few other things sometimes it says range shift inhibited, when its cold and not given enough time to warm up it will not shift out of first, and sometimes if I run it kinda hard it won't shift into 5th at all and when I stop and take off again it is like its stuck in 4th gear or like it has a big stall converter? But when it does that I can stop and cut the truck off for about a min and start again and it's all great!! I never use 4wd but yesterday I locked it In and went to take off and it was like the transfer case was slipping it will go but it feels like it would riding a bycycle with the chain loose , thanks in advance for any insight into my problem

Codes? Not much info here to work with.

Welcome to the forum. :welcome2:
Oriellys or Auto zone should be able to put any codes you've got for free. If not I'm sure it would cost that much for the dealership to do it.

Do you have any friends with a Tech2 or EFI live V2?

Why are you in the wrong section anyways? If you don't have a CEL; no parts store code reader will likely read Allison TCM codes.

It could be a few different things. If no codes are present, i suggest trying to start with taking the connecter off the NSBU and blowing it out/ cleaning to see if the situation gets any better or worse. Then report back with findings

:thumb: thanks for the welcome, I apologize if I posted in the wrong area, new to this and my first diesel truck, just looking for a little help. Parts store where I live don't do diagnostics anymore? But my mechanic that fixed the fuel lines on the truck has top of the line machine to read the codes,I had spoken to him about this problem but he advised me I should speak to someone that is more familiar with Allison trans. I can have him read the codes Thanks guys

Welcome to DuramaxDiesels! Congrats on your first diesel. Get them codes pulled and we can go from there helping you. When was the last fuel filter change?
