allright guys...go easy on me:happy2: 7.3 Superduty guy checkin in over at the Chevy site to help the GF dad.

the truck-
04 CC SB 6" on 315's with Edge.
other than that...all stock.

the problem-
blue smoke....lots of it.
been getting worse and worse
for the past year or so.
doesn't matter if it's in the
winter (0*F) or summer (100+*F)
took it to the dealership after they told him they could fix it even tho it had a chip on it. dealership is 2hrs away. 4 days in no word, he called um up and wanted to know what was up. they told him they had to call GM to see if they could work on a truck a truck that was chiped. BS flag. ok fine. 10 days in,no word from dealership so he went and took the truck back.

he tows a boat, maybe 6k load. notice the smoke bad when towing.

we've been told it's injectors. it's under warrenty and go get it fixed. no one seems to want to fix it tho.

ifn it was a 7.3, i'd say the JB in the turbo was shot. what do these Duramax's have for a turbo? JB? BB?
if not the turbo...i'd say injector orings. but on a 7.3 it's a totally different injection system. whats the setup on a duramax?

what say ye?

thanks guys!!!:thumb:

The Norco's
There were 2 engines available in '04 LB7 vin code 1 and LLY vin code 2 (Its the 8th digit in the vin #) But guessing from your description of your problem you probably have an LB7 1code motor. These motors have injector issues that cause most smoke concerns from mechanical to electronic failures, some of the failures set codes a couple dont. As for warranty your in by the time ('04) what about the mileage? If your over 100k you'll be on your own except for the special injector policy which only covers injectors for a very specific type of failure, period. Your best bet is to install as much factory stuff as possible return tune to stock and dont offer any detrimental info to your cause when you get to the next dealer. A decent tech with a Tech2 scan tool can give you a 90% fuel system check up in about 5 min. tops.

Yes it is 200K on the injectors however if the first dealer noted that your truck was chipped it may be in the notes in the computer system and any dealer that works on it or runs the info on the truck would be able to see it.

Hopefully they did not log that info..

Hey guys, thanks for the info and the links. I think that will be the next step then. should we just plug the hole for the pyro probe or should we get a cheap pyro and put it in to make it look like it's been there?

Thanks again ;)

injector warranty is 200k? Right? Correct me if I'm wrong.. But go to a diff dealership

Yes it is 200k but not for all failures like the original warranty was.

Running a pyro or boost gage doesn't mean you have ever tuned or chipped your truck. Any dealer that tells you that those void your warranty are just lazy POS! and you wouldn't want their mechanics to work on your truck anyway. Worst case if they check out your truck and find you dont fall under the special policy is your out $100 check out fee and you should know whats wrong with your truck. You can get complete rebuilt injector sets with all gaskets and seals for about 16 to 18 hundred with a warranty.
