Newbie here did a search but could not find exactly what I am after.

As the title says I have a 01 truck with seized motor. I have sourced a wrecked 03.
Swapping the 03 motor in I see I need to swap the accessory brackets, Y pipe and oil sender.

The ? is do I also need to transfer the engine harness over on to the 03 motor?

I ask this because I see the LLY is plug and play for the 03 but not the 01-02 and wires need to be moved on the harness.

Also anything else you think I might run into doing the swap?
The engine swap I am doing for my uncle it's his truck.

I have a 03 that I had the pleasure of doing injectors on last winter. So I am fairly familiar with the engine lol.

Thank you

I doubt they would just swap. 02 was a major change in electrical for Gm. Someone who actually knows will chime in I'm sure

I would swap over the wiring and sensors. I believe the oil senders are different and if I recall the map sensor is in a different place on the 01 trucks. I think it's mounted on the passenger side intake. If so you'll have to keep your 01 intake(s). But I may be way off. Been a while since I messed with an 01.

Yes the oil pressure harness is different as are the pins at the engine connectors. You can move pins around and make it work. But if you have both engines out you're best just to swap it. Oil pressure sensors and mounting locations are different as well.

Thanks for all the reply's

I should be able to have both trucks in my garage side by side for the swap.

So I will move all electronics and harness over to the 03 motor.
Thanks for the help. I was pretty sure thats what I had to do just needed to check.

Thanks again.
