My transmission went out about two weeks ago and I've decided to build it up with a rebuild kit. I have the stock turbo right now but I am planning on upgrading that in the future. I want to never have to mess with the transmission again after this so which rebuild kit would be the best? Any input would be appreciated.

Never mess with it again? Turn the power down and rebuild it to stock specs with stock parts. You want more power that's cool and all but this is a high maintenance sport. Nothing lasts forever. Some parts longer than others sure but not everlasting.

Built transmissions don't last forever either. Lust for power will do them in too. My advice is overbuild it and try to use your hot tunes sparingly.

Yeah I figured as much. What rebuild kit do you recommend?

Brayden good to see you on here bud. If I was in your shoes and looking to build a trans I would be getting ahold of Mike L and have him ship you a complete trans. You can buy a sun coast, Ppe, alligator, ect kits and all will be just fine to hold the power but its the person that's going to build it is the issue. As you know I had mine built by a guy in Roswell 3 years ago with a alligator kit. He's built many allisons and has over 30+ years in building transmissions. My truck has yet to skip a beat. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to him as I've had many other friends get they're Allison's built by him also and still doing great. More then likely to get a good trans its going to cost you from $4300-5200. If there is a reputable Allison builder in the Amarillo area buy a kit from a reputable company and let him build it. What about the warranty on your trans? Seemed like whoever you got it from would back up there work on whatever failed?. Anyways best of luck you have my number if you have any questions.:thumb:

Thanks Blake. Well the company sent a new trans out to me, however they said they have to wait to get my trans and see what caused the failure to see if they will warranty it or not. If they don't, we have to pay for that tranny, which is exactly what I already have, and will more then likely give me more trouble down the road like this one did. It's just kind of a screwy deal. So that's why I started looking into just doing a rebuild kit in mine and having somebody who has some allison experience put it together for me.

That was kind of confusing, they sent out a new trans and I can install it, but they may not even warranty it so then I'll have to pay for the new one they sent. Then I will have bought two transmissions that can't handle what the truck is putting down.
