01-02 GMC 2500HD bumper and grille to 03-07 ???

I have an 01' 2500HD...

I just acquired an 05' bumper and grille and just had the lower valence painted to match my 01' pewter truck...

I heard it was a simple swap...so I pulled everything off today to change it...no go...Grille fits perfect... bumper is the problem...anyone know what it would take to make this work?

i think you have to answer your own question. you are fortunate enough the have the pieces right in front of you to see what does not line up. you may need to weld on brackets or make adapters. you gotta look at it to see what you need to do.

Spacers?

Need a pic of the frame horns, and pics of the mount points on both bumpers (from both top and side) to make an adequate guess.

You must fabricate your own mounts for the bumper, most guys find it easier to use a donor truck and take the frame horns off the newer truck, and weld them onto your truck, never done it myself, but I have seen a few guys update the 99-02 Chevys to the 03+, same change in frame horns between the years.

i believe if you cut off the top bumper brackets you can make new ones that will work wt your frame horns.

Thanks for all the replies guys...it definitely is a frame horn issue...and am exploring donor truck options through a friend now...fabbing something without my own shop would be too costly...there is also a GM part # for the horns but I hear it's way too pricey...
