LBZ: Need Advice, New to Tuning

log Here is a log, let me know what you guys think. It doesn't seem to be de-fueling as much as it had, but I did back off the tune. It looks like it is slipping the converter a little, maybe 200 RPM max and the spikey graph would explain the shudder I had felt before. Is this a lot of...

    UGH, this converter suuuuuucks......

It wasn't the converter clutch itself. It was a shift solenoid. It would shift, the converter would lock, then a shift solenoid would blip (i could see it on the logs). This would happen under normal driving/low load conditions. I never had much success getting the converter to lockup when i...

Here is where I'm at with the tunes. I ended up with too much fuel on the big tune for my torque converter I think judging by the way it felt. I backed off the pulse width here. The issue I have on the higher HP settings is that it feels like the Trans is limiting the power output...

Pattern B is the TH table. I could never figure out why I got that studder when locking up the TC so I basically went back to the stock tuneup, just lowered 5th and 6th upshift so it will idle along at 50mph on my local roads instead of 1700 RPM for no reason. I'm going to fool around...

LBZ: Need Advice, New to Tuning

This is the route I'm taking. Either the TCM doesn't know its in manual (not the case), or EFILive just doesn't have those tables mapped out. My plan is to put it in manual position, then engage tow/haul to select the flattened shift point tables. I got it kind of working so far. It will...

I'm not trying to do that. However, I can't find anything in the TCM tables that controls that either.

I'm pretty happy with this tuneup at this point. Let me know what you think. Thanks guys! Now I'm moving to developing a full manual mode and fixing the cold temp lockup issue with my trans tuneup.

Thanks guys. I updated the trans setup some more as it didn't quite get to where I wanted. I attached an updated ECU tune with more timing in down low. I also attached an excel sheet that will help illustrate what I'm saying. Using the timing calculator will cause you to pull a lot of...

You guys might get a kick out of this. My attempt at a manual mode transmission setup. As of yet untested. Operating theory; Put trans in T/H with selector in manual mode. Also, my latest as of yet untested but only slightly off my last ECU tune. 60-70% cruise timing and low boost.

I'm wondering about low RPM timing. Stock you can see the timing is 100% BTDC. I left my tune this way only changing places where it was below 50%. What is the best for power? What is the best for economy? Would it be better to go 50/50 everywhere? I'm curious why they did this stock.

Alright guys. I'm on to the next thing to figure out. I'm having trouble controlling the cold vane position. Below 25mm3 or so it closes the vanes to like 75%. This is fine for warm up but it doesn't transition very smoothly when I get up into the target boost tables. It also doesn't stay...

I could feel it. It feels like a gust of head wind. I fixed the problem today although unfortunately I can't tell you what caused it. I started from scratch, making small changes and logging every time. I'm finally back to where I was and then some. I spent about 5 hours this morning on it...

Starting around frame 4500 in this log. This one should be a little clearer. I don't see anything in the tune that should cause this so I guess I should put the stock timing map back in and make sure it wasn't a fluke but I know that's all I changed. The closest thing I found was table 2227...

Check these logs out guys. Between frame 3300 and 5400 you can see vane position and boost oscillation at certain mm3's. The only difference between the two tunes is that I added 15% timing in the cruise area of 0909. My thought is that when it smooths out in the middle it is dropping to...

LBZ: Need Advice, New to Tuning

Just FYI, took it for a run today after the cooling system service, new belt and idlers, taping the intake for water/meth, EGT probe/CTS2 install. EGT's peaked at 1350*, probe in the passenger manifold right before the flange. I'm not sure what these run stock but I have about 10% pulse width...

Welcome! I'm not your guy but hopefully you can get a hold of someone. I know there is more to the LMM than the LBZ but it can't be that bad. My biggest problem is I don't know what the safe limits are. If I knew that I would just play around until I got things where I wanted them. This...

LBZ: Need Advice, New to Tuning

You guys will probably think I'm nuts but I really don't mind the lag to a point. I do need to make some downshifts happen sooner though for my tastes. I do have a specific goal in mind for this if you guys are interested. The jury is still out. I went back to the stock TCM tune, modified...
