Allison 5sp: Allison overheated still runs and shifts fine aluminum shavings in the heat exchanger

What would cause my flex plate to torque converter bolts to break? I have about 2000 miles on my rebuild and I started to get a loud noise from under the truck. I decided to pull out the starter and check the bolts. Two were sheared off and I tried to remove the rest and three more twisted...

Allison 5sp: Allison overheated still runs and shifts fine aluminum shavings in the heat exchanger

I finally put the tranny all back together and it runs great again. I replaced all the bushings, seals, bearings, torque converter rebuilt w/ billet stator and installed a new radiator. All of this because the torque converter failed. Thanks for all the help with this project.
