New Guy with 2001 GMC 3500
you should test the batteries with the grounds disconnected (to isolate them) one could be bad and thats why it starts with a jump good, a new starter will mask a weak battery and I've seen it cause other issues in systems too (probably not your limp mode issue) but it wouldn't hurt- merlot

LB7: New here and need help/info PLEASE
It was a injector cup leaking I didnt know to use red high temp loctite on them ,well live and learn LOL -

yup # 6 injector cup , I pulled the glow plugs and found a little trace of anti freeze on # 6 cylinder glow plug ... well I didn't know to use loctite on them and found a nice carbon trail on # 6 cup cleaned (carb cleaner and a 1 1/4 nylon brush) and put loctite on all of them Red high temp let... -

thanks Henry I had forgotten what you said days later on install :confused: LOL I used red high temp Permatex brand Napa # 765-2680 and cleaned everything good using a 1 1/4 nylon brush with carb cleaner and made my own injector cup remover that worked perfectly out of a 7/8 aluminum cement lag... -

LB7: injector cups Loctite where specifically ??
I ended up using Red high temp permatex brand (Napa #) 765-2680 Loctite and just down at the tapered part where it seals and not to much ,just a decent coating , cleaned the heads good with carb clean and a 1 1/4 inch round nylon brush let it sit 24 hours added coolant and no more pressurized... -

ok it sounds funny to ask maybe but are you saying to loctite the injector cup cone at the head where it seals or the bolt holding it ? and what loctite strength (color) is recommended ? I did neither and its my first duramax head job and I had no help on what tricks and such to do so if i'm... -

thanks for the ideas im gonna pull it apart and check the cups ,they were like new but i may have missed something in the seating after i see if any coolant is in a cylinder any if any and which one to try to narrow it down -

I was told it may just be air bound (boiling to steam) but it seems excessive for that anyone know the best way to bleed a 04 LB7 ?...It pressurized within 3-4 min. and when the cap was removed in 3-4 minutes time it blew out all over and when removed it had a steady flow of air coming out... -

I had the heads decked ,cleaned and a vac tested for the valves sealing I was talked out of pressure testing them , the injector cups were like new no pits at all,installed new O rings on them and put them in I torqued the injectors to specs as far as I know its right its a 04 LB7 is there any... -

I just finished putting my LB7 back together with head gaskets and ARP studs I thought all was well I took my time and it is still pressurizing the cooling system upon start up, can anyone suggest what went wrong ? I torqued them in three steps let sit over night went back over it and torqued to... -

yes I have that it says 125 in three steps but is that right ? final torque 125 ? I'm trying to figure out if I did something wrong ,I thought it was clear but I have immediate pressure in the cooling system after getting it back together ?? I took my time on it this is not my first build and... -

can anyone tell me if you really need to retorque ARP head studs after running it on a 04 LB7 or I've heard you can cheat and toque them and let sit over night and retorque next day anyone ??
