Finally got the truck running, help

Well my truck is finally running again, but it's knocking pretty loud on the passenger side, something is definitely not right. I sent videos to DHD and they said they think it's injectors, so we checked the balance rates and they looked good, now I'm just waiting to hear back from them again...

Mild build short block, long block, or rebuild??

If your looking for quality and budget friendly at the same time you won't beat DHD/All Season. But at the end of the day your still going to have around 10K in it.

Mild build short block, long block, or rebuild??

Just to clarify for the OP, All Season and DHD are the same company. And you wont beat their engines for the money. I just purchased a short block from them. I have always thought DFC were probably decent but my mechanic has one with low miles in his shop right now with a blown head gasket.

Mild build short block, long block, or rebuild??

Dont use and engine builder who your not 100% sure about. Ive been down this budget build road a couple times very recently, itll cost you alot more in the long run trying to save a couple thousand. Get a reputable engine builder that takes pride in what they do and will absolutely stand behind...

    LB7: SoCal Diesel Street Rods

Good point lol, I read his signature and forgot what the first page of of the forum was even about.

    LB7: SoCal Diesel Street Rods

The turbo I was thinking would be good for 8-900, the injectors about the same if your pushing them, and the 12mm pump around 1,000. I don't know how much nitrous it takes to add 600hp but... 🙈 I guess my biggest surprise is the lbz rods and lb7 pistons

    LB7: SoCal Diesel Street Rods

So your making 15-1600 hp with the set-up in your signature?

    Crankshaft Question

Just so no one takes me wrong I am absolutely not denying that there is a design issue, or that a narrow rod journal crank is the only sure fix. But I do think that a New Crank is the most important factor determining longevity for the guys not wanting to drop $5,500 on a crank. I also think AF...

    Crankshaft Question

You literally just said exactly what ive been thinking for the last few months but didnt wanna say because im no genius on metallurgy or engine building, so I just mostly talked with dad about it lol, hes no diesel enthusiast either. You even used the example of bending the metal one way and...

    Need New Starter

After some research I went with a Powermaster. They are quite a bit stronger than the delco and "supposed" to be tougher, I did like the fact taht they are made in the USA. They generally go for around $250 - $275 but I found one on Ebay for $199 so I snatched it up. We will see how it does 👌

    Need New Starter

I searched and could not find any starter upgrade recommendations, I seen the one Dmaxstore offers for around $225. Does anyone have any experience with an aftermarket one or should I just go back with oem? My truck is going back together this week and mine is shot.

    LML Turbo suggestions needed.

Or just make sure to get a good tuner that really understands turbos and has dialed in a particular set-up before, preferably with in-seat tuning. I doubt you will ever have any issues especially if the tuner is conservative...

    LML Turbo suggestions needed.

Ditch the stock vgt and go with a single danville vgt unit is my vote. 10mm pump and 60 over injectors if your never going over 700.

    S480/3794 high EGT’s

A Detroit or Grizzly will stay locked until you put it in a bind such as turning then it will unlock with a clicking sound that you can feel. The Tru-Trac is just a limited slip, it's smooth and will act much like the G80 only it's gear driven instead of having a clutch, so it's much much...

    S480/3794 high EGT’s

As James has already said though, I wouldn't start throwing parts at it until you figure out what's going on. If your going to 1,000 later you will need more injector but 60's isn't a terrible match for that 10mm and 750hp and won't be your high egt issue.
