    Well, figured I'd come in here to give this thread a closing. The entire issue was the SCD hold-downs. I installed new billet hold-downs from Industrial Injection and the truck fired right up. This time, no smoke from the PCV or oil filler neck and no loud tapping noises from inside the head...

    Well here's something interesting. Got done pulling all the SCD hold-downs earlier and found #8 about to break, but with a completely different failure area from the rest. I thought that of the second batch they sent only 7 and 6 had failed because those were my cylinders with low compression...

    Yeah same man. All I'd ever heard out of SoCal was: top notch stuff, best in the business, top shelf, etc. That's probably why I made the mistake of buying the motor. It never occurred to me that a solid metal part from SoCal that they claim has seen engines built to 1,700+ hp would fail at idle...

    The kit says to torque them down to 55 ft lbs. Factory value is 37 ft lbs. I torqued it to the 55 spec because the kit also comes with a stud and nut set also. I dont remember for sure if they came in ARP packaging, but I think they did cause the grease is also ARP. Sent from my SM-S908U1...

    Well good news and bad news... good news is that I dont have a motor with low compression on all cylinders... The bad news is that I have a motor with 400-410 psi of compression on all cylinders except for number 7 that has 300..... How bad am I screwed? Am I in bent valve or cracked piston...
