Allison 5sp: Newb Transmission questions & issues

I'm literally out in the garage right now assembling my transmission, haha. I only went with a billet input for one reason: so that it doesn't snap off inside the converter, and thus pissing $1800 into the wind. My brother lost a converter with a broken input on his 4R100. I've heard of it...

    NHRDA is no more

Were those events NHRDA? Those were my first events also. I know the first one I went to was in '07, or maybe '06, as my uncle drove us, and he passed in early '08. And I remember the events the following couple of years as well, when they added the pulling track. I know I've got some...

    Trans cooler

Smaller and terrible relative to what? The orifice in the bellhousing, behind the cooler fittings, is the exact same size diameter as these fittings. Therefore, the diameter of these fittings provide a 0% reduction in flow. The orifice in the bellhousing is also a sharp 90 degree turn. A...

    Allison 5sp: Cores / Swaps

Looked yesterday, and I didn't see any orange or purple clips. They just looked like a typical silver zinc coating to me (I didn't actually pull them out). That said, I'm about 95% sure they were 7/8" fittings. They were quite large. On top of that, by actually crawling under the truck...

:thumb: Awesome. You are the man. I'll check mine tonight. Any other changes? Or just the fittings? Thank ya sir!

    Allison 5sp: Cores / Swaps

Hello all. I have a 2003 Duramax (Chevrolet), and I've got some questions regarding transmission cores / swaps. So, I don't want to start a debate on the merits of a DIY transmission build versus paying a professional to do it, but I'm planning on building my own sometime later this year...
