Suicide of a Truck - a short story

That's the guy. I don't know about his engine failing..if it did he rebuilt it, cause he sold it just a couple of years ago with like 300k mikes. We were just talking about it last week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Suicide of a Truck - a short story

I wish... my mechanic, someone on here may know him by Ed..he used to hang out here anyway, confirmed that it's shot. EDIT: I forgot to address your question. Short answer is we don't know. We know the oil is full of bearing metal, that's about it.

Suicide of a Truck - a short story

No luck about it...I saw that it was discontinued so I drove 100 miles to get this one before they're gone. :thumb:

Suicide of a Truck - a short story

I'm hoping to get about $6k for it. I came up with that number by looking at what I could get for it if I rebuilt it before selling, and then subtracting the cost of the rebuild. I've been offered $3k, but that seems kind of low considering the rest of the truck is in good shape. BTW, I'm...

Suicide of a Truck - a short story

P.S. If anyone wants to buy a 2004.5 Silverado 3500 with 230k miles and a blown engine, I'm accepting offers. :D

Suicide of a Truck - a short story

I like to think of myself as a somewhat optimistic person. So when life throws a pothole in my way...maybe that analogy is too weak...when life suddenly removes the bridge that I'm on, causing me to plummet into the murky depths below, I try not to let it slow me down too much. Last weekend...

    A Thread for Bulbs

https://www.lifetimeledlights.com/ These guys were recommended to me by a family member. They use Epistar and CREE LEDs and warranty them for life. When my bulbs go, I'll likely be ordering from them.

    LLY: Diagnosing smoke under acceleration

I'm pretty sure that's the hose that blew off shortly after I got the truck. I've been meaning to check it to make sure it's still on all the way, just haven't been able to find time. Between a full time job, two graduate degree programs, two puppies, and a wife, I barely have time to think...

    LLY: Diagnosing smoke under acceleration

Yep, I've been keeping an eye on the new trucks, just in case I decide to go that route. I could save an additional $10k if I fly out somewhere. Better yet, I could take a vacation and bring the camper with me. May as well try the truck out on the way home! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    LLY: Diagnosing smoke under acceleration

You may have! There was a lot going for the truck when I bought it. One owner, lived in GA, fully optioned out LT, CC/LB dually, B&W turnover ball, and pretty much immaculate outside and in. And it was being sold at a large, "reputable" dealer, so of course they wanted top dollar. The mileage...

    LLY: Diagnosing smoke under acceleration

Yeah, if I hadn't just bought the truck recently, I wouldn't hesitate to replace the injectors. But with the repairs I've done thus far, I'm already into the truck for about $17,500 and it's only worth about $15,000 on a good day. I would rather cut my losses and make a better investment. Plus...

Thanks guys. I'll try the fuel filter, as that should be pretty easy. Hoping it's not bad injectors, any more than one would push me way over budget for this truck. I'm already into it for more than it's worth. But hey, I could use an excuse to buy a new truck.

Here's what I got. Not sure if it matters, but I was on a 1/4 tank for this first set. Then I filled up, started the engine, and put it in gear with my foot on the brake again for another check on a full tank. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
