Im in the process of cleaning up my engine bay. I have a background in aircraft engineering and looking at a few things that GM has done has me scratching my head and thinking they could have done better in some areas. It doesn't make sense to me to mount filters and computer modules to a hot...
That looks really nice mounted there. I may do the same, there is just to much crammed around the engine and moving the batteries would free up alot of space.
Im diggin it! :thumb:
I have thought of that myself but im not using the factory pump. I would be using an inline type low volume pump. There somewhat cheap I guess I could try it and see how long it last. I have been searching for some kind of small mechanical driven pump. I just haven't seen what im looking for yet.
I have relocated my FICM to the top of my fan shroud by building a custom aluminum bracket that bolts straight over the factory shroud using the factory mounting screws. I didn't even have to hack up my wire harness to do this. I have been running it dry with no problems but I was thinking of...
I'm trying to do something similar, I'm having a helluva time finding fittings for 1/2 inch fuel line to do this clean. I need a 1/2 inch hose barb that will connect to GM quick connect. Seems like no one makes it. They have it for 3/8 and smaller but no 1/2 inch.
If you know where to find...
What did you do about the fuel lines doing this mod? I'm trying relocate mine also because of the banjo fittings are always leaking. I had thought about disconnecting the 1/2 inch line on the drivers side. It has a quick disconnect fitting there but I was wondering if they make a barb that will...
Im not sure what you really gained here by doing this. Seems like a shit load of work for nothing. :roflmao: My 2005 is 7 years old now and I have never had a problem with the FICM other than a leaking banjo fitting which now has -8AN fittings now. I was thinking of relocating it at that time...
How about tapping it into an A/C line. You would have to custom build a line and mount it closer to the A/C compressor. That should keep it plenty cool without a doupt :thumb:.
