pulling my bow out today. been quite some time since i played with her but got drawn for a pretty hard to get area with nice sized Bulls in it.

whats your guys thoughts on a bow mounted rangefinder verse a hand held? they are legal in az. just thought it would be nice to have one on the bow for one easy draw and one movement

Not legal for me but you bet I'd run one if it was! One less thing to worry about

I'm leaning that way lol.

i was telling my buddies i am super excited for deer and elk this year today and then i see this thread, this makes it hard to work :mad::mad:

Lol I've been trying to get all my stuff done as far as vehicles, baby room and other projects so I can really get things going for this hunt!

Shot this 13 point with a compound bow in 2003 lacked 1" of being state record here in N.C. at the time. 165 1/8" non-typical. The 13th point is right above his left eye @ 1" long which is scoreable here in N.C. there is another point above his right eye @ 7/8" long. That 1/8" cost me tying the record, oh well. So really it's a 14 point but not legally per Pope & Young.

Thanks Mitch! Here are 2 more I shot with a rifle within 1/4 mile of that one. The 9 pointer has a 2" sticker point in the same place as the 13 and I shot him 10 years later. All from Guilford County, N.C.

Here's the one I got this year with a bow. Late season, January 21. First buck on my property since I moved there in June.

He was a big old boy.

This is the one I wanted but he dropped a side in early January before I got a chance at him. Looks like he was wounded at some point during the season.

Let my 3 year old son shoot my crossbow after bow season last year. If you look to the right of the target the arrow is stuck in the metal pole. I was holding it and thought I had it on target, he thought it was cool anyway. Not to mention he has his pj's on with work boots, he's all boy for sure, lol.

I sure never think of those kind of deer in NC! They're much more common here (KY) and in the midwest states, but sure never think of that from a coastal state. That's awesome though! Those are trophies no matter what state they're taken in!

:cool2:

Phil, those are nice bucks too!

With the comp. I'm on, I can't see your pics, elliottw. I'll look at home later.

I've been out of hunting for 15 years (since my dad died) but having a [2yo] son of my own now has inspired me to get back in the field/woods/water big time!!

My wife shot this one with crossbow in 2013. She went hunting one afternoon. That was it for the entire hunting season and shot this 10 pt. It came from the same field as the big 9 pt. I got posted.
