    Fleece Performance TurboBrake MPG report

Posted this over on DP, but thought it deserved a spot here also: I've been running the TurboBrake from Fleece Performance on my LBZ since they first came out. I put it on mainly to help with braking when towing the 38' gooseneck trailer we drag around occasionally. Kinda played with the...

    Valve Lash

I remember seeing someplace that the valve lash for the Dmax is like 0.012". Is this a hot setting or a cold setting? On that same note, are the cams from SoCal and Comp also lashed at 0.012"?

    Duramax valvetrain

The subject of piston to valve clearance came up in the piston protrusion thread, but I didn't want to derail that thread. Has valvetrain failure been an issue with the Dmax's or are they pretty bullet proof?? I haven't spent much time studying it, but from the looks of the rockers, bridges...

    Bsfc

Has anyone ever seen BSFC numbers for our Dmax's, stock or hotrodded? I was looking at some numbers from our sprint car and midget alcohol motors and noticed I've never scene them for the GM diesels (or any others for that matter). On the alky motors, a typical 4 cylinder inline 166 CID...

A theoretical boost vs. timing question

IdahoRob commented on another thread a question I have been mulling over. Planning the engine build, I have been wondering about the relationship between boost and timing. Without going into specific tuning info, what are the relationships between these two parameters. How does one affect...

    First time on the rollers

Hit the dyno for the first time ever today. 514/936. Pretty happy with that. Nice to have a baseline before the motor build.

    P0108 - High MAP

I've got a tune that has got me to the 13.0 mark so far. Problem is I keep tripping a high MAP code. According to GM, P0108 should trip when 90.6 inHg (307 kPa) is sustained for 2 seconds. The highest peak that I log during a run is about 48 inHg. What could be tripping this code if I'm so...

    Allison 6sp: TCM shift tables

I'm noticing my shift tables are off by about 10 MPH from my actual logged shift speeds, actual shifts are about occurring at the higher speed. Matter of fact the 2 to 3 shift is happening at 51 MPH vs. a commanded 32 MPH. Is that typical? Do I just massage my commanded shift speeds until...

    Invalid or missing calibration

Was tweaking some pulsewidth on a tune on went to reload it. During the download, EFI gave me a message that the ECM had bad or missing calibration, but I could still load the tune. Everything appeared to load ok and the truck ran fine. Well, I didn't like that error message, so I loaded...

    Firmware upgrade snafu

I stepped in shit trying to upgrade my firmware and bootblock on my V2. Firmware updated fine to v2.5.20. Bootblock should have upgraded to v2.5.08, but it's still v2.5.04, and the V2 can't see the cable now. EFILive explorer says the bootblock upgrade programs OK, but it's a no go...

LBZ rail pressure - out of ideas

Well, I think I've tried everything short of swapping out the CP3. I can't run any tuning with more than about 2450uS without draining the rail. Here I can maintain about 23K or so on most runs. A PPE 350 HP tune (3250 uS) pulls pressure down to 16K. I've added the AirDog - lift pump...

    100 MPH Club....finally

Went to the track last night to play with some TCM tunes and learned a thing or two and came away confused on some others. The first gear delete tune would be great if you were running a weekly bracket show. Very consistent shifts and ET's, but didn't do much to improve 60's, ET or MPH...

    Reset taps at the track

I'm going to the track tonight to play with some TCM tuning. I'm going to start out with a 1st gear delete tune, run a couple of different ECM tunes, then reflash the TCM to use JoshH's "early converter lock up tune" using all 6 gears. Question is, do I need to reset the taps after flashing to...

    Good night at the tree

Just got back from the track and had a pretty killer night at the lights. 5 passes, R/T's were .121, .114, .129, .102, and .160 (zzzzzzz). Best pass 13.44 @ 99.79. Gained nearly 0.4 and 3 mph on tuning alone this week. Air was pretty crappy, typical Indiana summer night, high 80's w/ 90%...

Another first time at the track

Last Tuesday took the LBZ to the track for the first time. First time on a drap strip in 18 years! Got in 6 runs and could have squeezed in a few more if it weren't for tweaking the tuning between rounds. Anyhow, I was a little disappointed with the results. 60's averaged in the mid 1.8's...

    Cognito HD tie rods

Anyone know if the ball joints on the tie rod ends on the Cognito HD rods are the same as the OEM ball joints? I'm assuming so since no knuckle modifications are required, to quote Fingers..."but what do I know".

    In the spirit of.....

....you show me yours and I'll show you mine. Finished it last night. No more P0087 so far, but I haven't logged with it yet. PPE's Level 6 was dropping rail pressure to 13kpsi-ish. Seat-o-the-pants meter says MUCH better top end.
