Major issues. HG blown AND injectors??

No "preaching", just offering a little experience based suggestions. I use "likely" in much the same way as I use "probably". It indicates that there is some finite probability that my theorem fits, not a certainty. Anyway, in reading other posts by the member that started this thread it...

    DEF, have not added?!!!?!!!?

In the 16 or so years I have been a member here I STILL haven't seen any RATIONAL reason for the various EGR and DEF deletes and disables. Do people here WANT dirty air ? I think its dirty enough - and my 2003 LB7 STILL runs just fine with all its original (NE1 emissions) equipment. It is...

Major issues. HG blown AND injectors??

On a 15 year old vehicle those hoses are probably weak, pulling them off would likely damage them enough to make reusing them VERY unwise. If the philosophy is to AVOID using new seals, whatever the co$t in dollars and/or time, then sure, pull those hoses off. Since the O/P hasn't posted again...

Major issues. HG blown AND injectors??

How else do you get the FICM out of the way to get at the passenger side valve covers ? I wanted to CHECK the return lines and CLEAN them, I couldn't do that by just taking out the banjo bolts to the injectors. So , IMAO new seals are NEEDED for the FICM and ends of fuel return lines. The...

Major issues. HG blown AND injectors??

Yes, and what it DOESN'T call out specifically in that quote is the banjo seals at the ends of the return lines, or the ones at the FCM, or the lower valve cover seals. i.e. they include ONLY the ones AT the injector within each injector package. This is entirely appropriate, the seals required...

Major issues. HG blown AND injectors??

For the sake of saving what ? 4% or so... My TIME is worth more than that if I have to tear it apart again to find a leak. Sure, reuse all the old seals and O rings. Then do it all again WITH new seals and O-rings when it leaks like a strainer. Not the way I do things, penny wise, etc...

Major issues. HG blown AND injectors??

BTW, injector replacement (here in Mass, but out from the big city) is in the $5,000 - $6,000 range at dealers' shops, a bit under $4,000 at small(er) time places. Lincoln diesel service sells GOOD injector sets for $1750, if you add fuel lines another $550, you also need the install kit ($100...

Major issues. HG blown AND injectors??

You didn't reveal any of the truck's history, other than an approx odo reading. If this is a "new to you" truck then there are many unknowns. 1) It seems to have been "topped off" with straight water, or you wouldn't have a frozen solid top hose. 2) If #1 above is true this has been going on for...

    Medium Duty CAN bus Protocol

Hmmm ...for some ODD reason I am thinking that fuel filter changes should be based on the volume of fuel that has passed through the filter. While the miles traveled is related, it is quite indirect. So many factors are involved; load, traffic, terrain, driving style, trip distances, etc those...

    Injector rebuilding

I've been considering trying to rebuild the injectors too. Despite all the "just buy reman bosch injectors from LDS" and "contact LDS for advise/support" replies - - I see that they sell matched sets of nozzles for injector rebuilding. Just what IS the special skill that only the exalted have ...

    lb7 injector tool

Thanks guys. 036.6turbo That is some write up and picture story, thanks for "publishing" to the rest of us. Something that threw this noob was around item 10 "10. Remove those 8mm screws, then remove the 19mm fittings that hold the high pressure lines to the common rail, and the injectors...

    lb7 injector tool

DIY injector re-build. So, it seems like getting it all apart and back together again is enough work that doing these one by one ain't the way to go. So, all 8 or at least all 4 on one side ? Looking at parts costs; over $2,000 for reman replacements, or a little under $500 for a "full...

    different size batteries

I agree - kinda refreshing to get back to the QUESTION (-: You can model it EXACTLY as several batteries and the internal resistance of each. Both the charge and discharge rate of each is some inverse function of its internal resistance - which, BTW changes with its STATE (level) of charge...

One more response before I get back to WORK. As I recall the 1 ton chassis/cabs are NOT 3500s. 3601 maybe ?, though I don't have registration, title or anything much else with me. The cab to rear axle is definitely 2 inches greater, I remember that distinctly from when I went to get a flat...

    different size batteries

I cannot provide the VIN number until I get to the vehicle. Right now it is about 150 miles from where I am, I will be there late on Monday, Tuesday at the latest. I am NOT just sitting around here with it outside, I am on a trip, that truck is NOT with me. This is the same reason that I cannot...

    different size batteries

The VIN number is something (else) I don't carry around in my memory, or in computers. Maybe when I get home to it, if the snow has cleared, but it is likely irrelevant anyway a) I know what I have, whether others decide to believe differently or not. b) The answer is in any case "not much...

    different size batteries

Ahh, resorting to senseless attacks ? That is OK with me. If you want to start in on me for the proper use of smileys. It isn't formally defined and I have been using what I use since mid/late 70s. A suggestion; you may want to get around to "proper" sentence structure and punctuation...

    different size batteries

There Ya go (-: You checked the page and part number I quoted, right ? and of course in YOUR schematics that page doesn't exist and neither does the relay - or it is all marked "gas engines only" ? I have quoted you page numbers from GM docs, you have quoted me personal experience - which I...

    different size batteries

Page D52 doesn't distinguish between gas and diesel "aux" batteries. I take it the red text in the diagrams is your own ? On the '03 and beyond the aux battery relay 12052641 is in the distribution area right under the driver side floor, nowhere near the passenger side battery that you...

    different size batteries

Do you HAVE the schematics ? Do you (how do you) know for CERTAIN that the AUX battery on the gassers isn't simply the 2nd battery on the diesels ? Same parts, commonality of wiring harnesses, rules of manufacturing economics, etc . In other words; I'm from IOWA, you'll have to SHOW ME (-:
