They are likely still suffering the same issue we documented before. China put the reman part in boxes with new Part label on them. We notified NAPA of the issue and it fell on deaf ears. We also notified RockAuto. It took awhile to get them to listen and understand what was happening but they...

I would get a bigger set of heads... a 408 needs to breathe. I have a custom 1 off set of AFR 205s with a smaller intake valve for a 5.3L that almost flow 300 CFM. We specifically used the 205 casting because of the bore size and the small combustion chamber. Mine are 61cc but it's not 87 octane...

    Grand Tracker continual build

Wait until you see my engine stand... and my welds are not as nice. It still took me a few days worth to do it... but it's functional the way it is.

Looking good! It's all the tedious little stuff like that which seems to eat up the most time. "All I got to do is..." seem to be the famous last words. 😆

Power wise, probably not. I am not a fan of the LS3 heads as they feel lazy down low. I believe this is basically what I put together for my buddies truck. So not far off from an LQ9 which has flat tops. Which I believe GM advertised at 9.9:1 The fuel milage is close to what he was getting. It...

The 317 heads are around 71 cc but the LS3 head has a more efficient combustion chamber design. The only advantage to the LS3 is more flow on the top end.

We did flat tops and a 212/218 .550 lift on 112 LSA in my buddies 2000 2500 truck. He loves the hell out of it.

It sucks when we don't get enough time for these projects and then to add insult to injury it doesn't go as planned. I been feeling a similar pain on trying to build a DIY engine stand to hold my engine from the sides so I can install the rear plate and the oil pan.
