    NHRA Rulebook Question

SFI rated padding is meant to protect a helmet, not your bare head. It is dense. Probably better than hitting your head on a steel tube, but it's not an airbag.

1/8 mile discussion and time slips post here!

HI guys, it's been a while! I would think the 6.99/6.50 or so threshold would be pretty good if you're going to make a list. I looked at the 10.99 and quicker list for nostalgia sake, and holy cow are a lot of the fast times are from a long time ago. I agree with you Tom, that's an old list...

    George - Big Dipper

Well good to see nothing's changed over the years. If you're reading this George. In my experience he doesn't answer his phone, but all will be more than right in the end.

    LBZ: LBZ Cracked Block

Not sure I'd go with a half filled block. I had two engines in a row with cylinder cracks and I know at least one other person with similar results. The cracks just happened to be right above and below the fill line (straddling it). YMMV, this is not intended as legal advice, etc :thumb:

    Race prep

I prefer going off of RPM rather than boost. The tach is a lot easier to accurately read than a little boost gauge. In my street truck I used 2000rpm. There was room to go a little higher, but 2k rpm is really easy to see and line the needle up right on the mark. It was super consistent...

Info: Life insurance.... How's and why's??

Also an estate thing. You can run into interesting situations with death and businesses. Taxes is one part of it, but also the ownership interest. Usually business partners have insurance on each other to buy the deceased partners share of the business from the deceased's estate. Because the...

    Best Bourbon or Whiskey

It's good. I've had it before. :sucks: Just kidding. Will do. I'm a little hesitant to open the bottle, it's so hard to find.

"Built not bought" mentality and why it is bad

I've barely ever turned a wrench on my truck....ever. I'm not dumb and have had to fix some stuff, but I understand when somebody is way better at something than me. To me the "built not bought" thing makes about as much sense as "hug a farmer", or the "without truckers" BS. A long time ago...

    Cadillac CTS-V

There isn't necessarily anything wrong with the rear end in general. It could just use a cooler if you're going to flog on a 4300lb car at a racetrack. And the supercharger thing only affected some cars, so just because it didn't get addressed doesn't mean there is a problem. It it has bad...

    Cadillac CTS-V

Yep I had an '11 that I bought new and just traded it November. It was an auto and loaded up with Recaros and all that. It was a really great car. I loved it and put 84,000 miles on it. I commuted about 70 miles round trip a day in crappy traffic when I bought it, hence the auto. The rear...

    Truck broke

Man it was embarrassing that you beat me in my Veyron. Do you know if they make a chip for it my car? I really wish it got better mileage.

    Gun safes

:thumb: I was posting the info I did to at least give people the chance to read about what they are buying. Buy what you feel comfortable with and have insurance coverage if you want.

    Gun safes

Yeah I'm sure they did. "We did an investigation of ourselves and found nothing wrong." They don't have actual ratings other than RSC. I'm not saying they are a bad product to that end, but let's not confuse theirs or anybody else's self ratings with actual standards.

    Gun safes

I don't know if you know or care, but most "safes" being talked about are actually "residential security containers" as rated by UL. Buy whatever you want, but sometimes the "features" being added don't, or at least haven't been tested/proven to do anything to make them more difficult to get in...

    President

I thought that was pretty lame as well. That's what libs and little kids on the playground say...not the president. Still glad he won rather than the other candidate though :D

    Washing black paint

for the first couple of years I washed my black CTS-V with the 2 bucket method. One bucket of soapy water and one of just water. Hose car, wipe a small area with soap, rinse mitt in water bucket, wipe another small area with soap, rinse mitt, etc. Pain in the ass but worked, no swirls. Now...

Why street racing is for assholes

I think the thought process is that if the other car wasn't racing too, then there wouldn't have been a "race." I'm not saying that is right or wrong, but to compare it to racing at a track doesn't make any sense. People assume an inherent risk at a race track. Generally speaking, I think a...

NHRA IHRA Stock Elimanator GT Engine spec for DRAG RACING A DIESEL

Talk to me like I am 3 years old. What are we talking about here? What kind of vehicle would be able to race under your proposed changes? 3/4 ton trucks, or something else with a Dmax?
