Turbo Vane Position code, do I get a new turbo system?

Several reasons you may have gotten that code. Vane position sensors are known to fail even on stock untuned units over time. Given the low miles and lack of tuning, I would hope it's not the turbo being worn (but not out of the realm of possibility). How clean is the oil? Often times people...

    2024 Duramax issues?

It will be interesting to see how the remedy it. New Cab ($$$$$$$$$$$) Strip the area, reweld, repaint ($$$$) Squirt it with some "special" sealant and replace rubber cover strip/gasket. Resale is going to drop on these if that's the case and as an owner I'd be pissed.

    2024 Duramax issues?

I don't know how accurate the article is but it states up to 3500HD is affected: General Motors has issued a recall for its brand-new 2024 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickup trucks due to mysteriously cracking roofs. Over 3000 models are affected by the recall, and...

    2024 Duramax issues?

Anyone have a roof crack yet? I guess if it's dry you wouldn't really know as it seems to be under the seal.

Can Heavy towing blow the engine?

I'm willing to bet the engine reaching those temps didn't do your head gaskets any favors. If you are having new head gaskets installed it would be a GREAT time to install head studs. The original bolts are torque to yield and should not be reused (although some have done it). A set of OEM...

Can Heavy towing blow the engine?

Define "heavy". Heavy within rated tow capacity and up modest inclines, or heavy as in trying to tow a D8 up the Ike Gauntlet? Bone stock trucks OVER TIME have been known to lose head gaskets, but it usually takes many years and some last longer than others due to varying degree of factors...

    Truck got rear-ended today

That Sucks! It doesn't look too bad. Considering the damage (while shitty to have it happen to you) looks like only sheet metal damage, so I'm going to say the driveline is fine. The parking pawl would be my only concern if the truck was parked. Maybe the tranny guru's can chime in but I...

    Seriously?

I've noticed where I work (hospital) the latex gloves are much harder to pull out of the boxes than they used to. I'm wondering if they are compressing them more to take up less room (smaller boxes, less warehouse space needed, fit more on a shipment,...)?

01-10 steering box redhead ,PSC ,OEM

Interesting that the website says it fits 2002-2006 gas engines, but only 2007 up diesel engines. Assuming that is just poor research on their part?

    Fixing my LBZ/ truck build

Thank you all for the responses. Interesting that the factory didn't do that from the start and/or switch after some point when a simple hardware change would have saved so much time/hassle.

    Fixing my LBZ/ truck build

I know this is a 3 year old quote, but having not done a water pump yet on my 2006 LBZ, I'm sure it will come soon and this sentence caught my attention. That said, just wondering what replacing the stud with an allen bolt does? Does it allow removal without pulling the balancer in the future...

    Twin engine duramax truck...

Yes they do, but utilizing a single transmission/gearbox with multiple inputs. Most have some sort of clutch on each engine that allows each engine to couple/uncouple. Some start one engine with a traditional starter, and the others can me turned over by the power of the first engine by...
