Why do I keep doing this?

Was cleaning up the garage today, and came upon the roll of header wrap I was going to use on my downpipe.
Since that idea didnt work, and I dont want to let that wrap go to waste, I was wondering if it would be beneficial to wrap the cold side I/C pipe to keep engine bay heat out?
I was lurking in the engine bay tonight and the cold side I/C pipe was still warm, even though I had got back from driving 5 hours earlier.
I dont have access to ceramic/heat dissipating coatings, so thats why Im curious.

If it keeps it in it should definitely keep it out. Be interesting to see the difference in IATM before and after.

Don't waste your time. Charge air is hotter in the tube than the underhood temp. So wrapping would keep the heat IN not out.

Depends on how hard you are working your turbo, and how well your intercooler is cooling.... this blanket statement doesn't apply to everyone.

I wrapped the cold side with the foil header wrap made to keep heat out. I figured the hot side could use all the heat dissipation it could get. Never really noticed much of a difference, but the egts do seem to drop a good bit faster on a hot day.
