I have fabricated a ram air intake duct that comes from both fog light holes in the factory bumpers and plumbs into the factory airbox. I have done very little testing at this point but I can tell that spool time and egt's have decreased and max boost psi has increased. At the moment the scoops are functional but not very asthetically pleasing but if there is enough interest i will do further testing of intake air temps, intake pressure, egt's, spool time, and have some scoops fabricated that will look very nice. I'm estimating that the kit all together should cost around $250, give or take depending on the cost of the scoops from the fab shop. If anyone would be interested or has thoughts or input I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks:thumb:

I could get some but like i said its functional and thats about where it stops :roflmao: I honestly didnt take time making it pretty for the beta test version because I didnt want to invest a lot of time in something if i couldnt tell any difference, but i am going to have some nice inlets made and powder coated for my truck regardless if anybody is interested and I will get some pics up then. Should be about a week or two

don't cut your self short on $250. If someone had my shop fab up two squair to round intake boots for the foglight openings out of S/S or aluminum I would charge at least 250 for that but it would come out tits.

Well im hoping to keep cost down so the average working man can afford the kit because i myself am an average working man but it all just depends on what price my fab shop comes back with

Good Idea from what I can see I'd make the intake opennings as big as possible to get a better forced air intake? How do they route around the tranny cooler and what if you have a larger after marker tranny cooler? Good start on your part.:thumb:

:D Thanks. Im going to have either a machine shop or injection molding shop make some pieces that im going to call a horn for lack of a better term that fit perfectly into the hole and narrow back to the 2" pipe to achieve better flow when i get the time. I routed the pipe under the tranny cooler instead of between it to avoid sharp turns and restrictions in the tubing. As you can see in the pics it hangs slightly below the bumper but still above the frame crossmember

Forced air intake works on our trucks.

I tested with the Banks system (you modify it to make it truly forced air) and even on a dyno it made HP. I ran 3 pulls with no fan aimed at it, then aimed the fan at the inlet and did 3 more. I don't remember the specific numbers, but seems it was about +12 rwhp at high rpm?

It worked on both our Vette and LS1 Camaro as well, and was one of our "tricks" we did to improve ET's.

Thanks for the info :thumb: It always makes me more comfortable to have the McRat seal of approval on an idea :D

Thats sweet man, I would be interested if it pans out. Keep us posted.

Thanks man. I definitely will, if it performs well enough to suit me with the current duct brackets that i fabbed i will be able to sell the kit a little cheaper :thumb:

I had wanted to try the Banks scoop modified like this, the cost of the scoop itself has kept me from it.
