Hey everybody . I was out messsing around as usual and got into a confrontation with a cummins with stacks on it , I ultimatley won the negotiation @ about 120 but my check engine light came on and the truck would barely run. I got it home and the code said 0087( I think),anyway I was nervous so i just cleared it and drove it to see if it would run and it did but I did not get on the throttle much.My question is what do you guy's think happened and did I screw it up bad or did I get off lucky

You're fine, you just drained your rail of fuel. Time to get a lift pump or try to shim your fuel rail valve:D

Thanks guys I was scared because even though I didnt feel anyhting slip I was worried it went into limp mode because it wouldnt run over like 35-40 until I got back to the house and cleared the code I even tried shutting the truck off for like 5 minutes and that didnt work either. Thanks again I didnt think I was going to get much sleep tonight

Your not the first one to throw an 0087 code and think you limed the tranny... You will definitely need a lift pump so it doesn't throw that code anymore. We carry all major brands if you need one. Let me know if I can help.

Actually a tranny limp will leave the check engine light on but will allow you to drive normal after the truck is shut off and started back up. Also trans problems thow the P0700 code along with the actual code. P0087 puts you into an "Engine Protection Mode"

I personally run AirDog 150gph - comes with a filter and water seperator and a 1/2" fuel pick-up. They also have parallel mount units now so that they sit along the frame. Haven't seen a BD unit in person, FASS is very similar to AirDog (one is made by the father, one by the son and they have actually had patent lawsuits against FASS) but the FASS is a good bit more expensive and louder. PPE is virtually the same as an edelbrock fuel pump but with different packings to hold up to diesel.
