I used to make double time for the Christmas and new year holidays. Figured up to around $45 an hour. But the shop here won't even give me the option.:(

everyone has a price dont they Larry?

Simon, I mainly work for Banks and Mortgage company's. Right now they are paying like crap "time of year", they lose the bills, the deal didnt close and they forgot to collect the fee, or some other lame excuse, its getting old. I go into work everyday around 7:00 - 7:30 and work till at least 5:00, So when it comes down to working on the holidays, it just aint gonna happen, because surely if I do, the bill will be lost

When I didn't have kids I would work on Christmas and any other holiday.

Then again I was a workaholic. Until 6 months ago I had 4 jobs  I'm still getting used to just working for Pat's real job and McRat Racing.

If it ment I could skip all the holiday BS I would pay.

I keep telling my GF that Christmas is canceled next year so I'm going to the sand dunes. She keeps giving me the "you got me pots and pans for christmas" look.:D

Maybe next time....

In my line of work, I have chores I have to do EVERY DAY and it all pays the same....... But, besides chores, its up to me to decide how much I want to do....so once the cows are fed I'll probablly take the rest of the day off.....

If I was paid more, I'd probablly do more........ I used to get double pay back in college working holidays, but thats been at least 5 years ago......

I worked Christmas Shutdown at Rockwell International and got triple time for a week.

When I first opened up "Quality Inspection" (my primary job) I worked 365 days a year for the first 18 months before I took a day off.

Now, 15 years later, I can goof off 365 days a year!~ :D
