i pulled the tranny to fix the problem that was leaking...and we put it back together and everthing with the new ims box that cracked off while we were taking it out and when you put it in drive it goes no where and says SHIFT RANGE INHIBITED or somthing like that across the screen. and when you go to put it in park it grinds for some reason... anyone have this happen? i think that IMS box is a bad one too? that is what controls it to shift.

What is a ims box? Do you mean the NSBU switch? What kind of grinding does it do in park? What exactly did you fix?

the guy from allison is my buddy and he looked at it and told me that this box that is on the outside of the tranny on the driver side that hooks to linkage and has two plugs on it going to i guess the tcm idk..but he said it was the IMS box...and we broke it trying to gett the tranny out so he gaves us one that he had laying around in the shop and we put it on...but the reason we took it out was the bolts holding the bell houseing i guess was leaking so we put copper washers on it and put it back in...after we put all back together we tryed to see if it moved and nothing move just said SHIFT RANGE INHIBITED.. and when i went to put it back into park it like grinded and stoped oncei was in...i done it three times to make sure??

this is what was leaking

well...lol come to find out the whole time it was the transfer case was in nutruel... it must have gottten moved when reinstallling the linkage..that caused the grinding and the range shift inhibited to happen..works perfect now and the leak stopped
