I tried running without the glowplugs and intake heater. I dont reccomend it. I like the the fact that it will start the first try and stay running when it gets below 50*.

In warm climates, it's OK with stock compression. But if you lower the compression, I'd keep them in.

It's pretty easy to test, just unplug the power lead from the glowplug controller.

I ran without mine for 8 months. Controller was bad and I didn't know it till Greg noticed it. Never had a problem starting it.

Whats to advantage? Besides not having to buy new ones when they go out :D

3 minor advantanges i could see would be

-No interferance with the fuel shot

- If the glow plug tip breaks off, you have to pull apart the motor

-weight reduction:joker: you could lose some of the wires and GPC

Can glow plug eliminators be had for less than $400?

Could one make a plug to insert instead of an entire glow plug on a built motor and if not why do they have to be the same length as the glow plug eliminators that are currently for sale?

if the plug didn't go all the way to the cylinder then you'd be decreasing the cr even more by increasing the bore capacity wouldn't ya? Same as shaving a bowl or piston top.

The bad part is glow plug eliminators are more expensive than buying glow plugs unless you make your own. I just bought 8 brand new glow plugs for like $36 a piece, are there eliminators out there for less than 250? I really dont see an advantage, might as well leave them in and have easier starting.
