Allison 5sp: wondering if i should build my trans a bit

i have an 02 silverado i plan to put a little power to it just basics cold air, boost valve, exhaust, that stuff. i dont pull anything with it right now but i will be when i go home, like cattle, and building materials, but the trailer alone i pull materials with is pretty dam heavy so im not sure if i need to put somethin in my trans or not. thanks

If you only put a small tune in it say 40/50 HP you should be good to go. If you ramp it up to near 100 HP you'll be looking for a upgrade to the transmission soon.

And if your only going up to say a 60-70HP tune, I don't personally think you'll need a boost valve. I don't have one in mine, and I regularly see 27 on the boost guage with about a 120HP tune. And very little smoke.

change the fluid and filters, and get a bigger trans cooler and your golden just dont romp on it with the trailer attached i tow on my 135 tune you just have to be easy

what kind of upgrade my tuner is a 90 hp gain and i plan on a few other things as well



Your right at the point of possible trouble. It's all in how you drive ,many with this much power added with a 01/02 truck has had many years of enjoyment but you can cause some damage.

I'd personally upgrade and you wont have to worry about it. I wouldn't tow heavy with that setting as EGT's could be a concern. Just back it down some
