Im going to add puddle lights to my truck and I think I found the right pin for the control module. It is the #1 and #6 pin on the blue plug. The #1 is a ground and the #6 pin has 12v when I hit the unlock button and goes off when the dome lights time out. Can someone confirm those pins don't do something else and that I can use the pins I have left over from my DSP5 switch install to make the connection?

Thanks

Well I found what I needed, but the existing power supply for puddle lights seems to have a constant 1.5v. I was surprised that didn't light the LED. However if I use the existing wiring it draw down my battery? Do I need to install/ is there something to block the 1.5v, but yet energize the LED when its getting a full 12v?

FWIW, in the diagram I have, pin 9 is listed as a control meaning it is a switched ground. Even if the hot side stays at 1.5 volts, there would be no draw if hooked to that ground because the circuit wouldn't be completed. My diagrams also say 5 and 9 for the passenger side switch.

I put LEDs in mine and they just barely glow in a really dark garage. Best guess is that they are controlled by a transistor swt and that has a extremely small leakage across the junction The low current needed for led causes this. Don't worry about it, you might not even see it.

Thanks Josh glad you said that! I was going to just tie into one of the other grounds since I don't have enough pins. Ill have to come up with more.

So testdrive did you not use the power and the ground that is meant for the factory puddle lights then?

Just checked a few times and the ground isn't switched. Going to look into finding a solution some. I already have 1 vehicle that eats batteries because of a high parasitic draw that no one has been able to fix yet.

The LED Im using is a 3W and only dimly lights briefly when I touch the contacts for the puddle lights when they should be off. Maybe it will be ok.

Mine had the puddle lights from the factory. just changed them to leds. Love the difference. These did not increase my parasitic drain, may have lessened it.
What do you have that is eating batteries. I've got some experience in finding a tough one in my Suburban.

Oh I see. I went ahead and wired it up hoping my 3W LED might not light up, but it does.

Its on my wifes 2007 Tahoe I'm done beating my head against the wall with it. Im going to take it to a automotive electrical specialist. Ive chased down the draw, but cant figure out want causing the BCM to wake up and draw down the battery.

All done.

Might rewire them into the dome light instead of the factory puddle lights. I'm not sure I like how/when they function.
