what is this winter fuel business i keep hearin about. i have noticed about a 2-3 mpg difference3 since temp changes. can anyone elaborate. this was of course before my truck was stolen.
Im not sure its 2-3 mpg but it does make a difference. (MAYBE?? 1-1.5) What I believe is that its the extended warm up time that we tend to forget about. JMO
A Conoco/Phillips driver told me they don't mix 50/50 #1 & #2 diesel anymore. #1 USLD is too expensive. Instead, for S.W. Idaho they mix in Power Service Arctic Express at the terminal. It adds lubricity as well as lowering the gel point to -40 degrees. FWIW, my mileage hasn't dropped at all.
Winter fuel - we get arctic fuel sometimes. It really sucks. It's #2 cut with kerosene. You NEED to add fuel conditioner otherwise the valve guides and injectors get all munged up. Stock 6L PSD's don't like it either-muffs up the egr motor and sensor.
