Anyone have any builds happen over the past winter? Mine ended in Hibernating again this winter with a bunch of little issues, like no glow plugs, hazy injectors, coolant leak from the engine/trans adapters at the block off plate on the passenger side, as well as the coolant return on the oil cooler. When I put the truck up one the hoist and started doing a inspection, I found my brakes need replacement, E brakes cables, shoes, rear brake backing plates rusted out, upper ball joints where junk as well as the upper control arm bushings. So I ended up doing a whole truck service, replaced all the fluids, but ended up having to replace both rear calipers due to rusty and broken off bleeder screws.
Next up was the injectors, I ordered as set of SAC 45% from LDS and since I would need a retune, I decided to build a compounds at the same time. Ended up get a S488 from James and reused the current S369. Sadly I already had the injectors otherwise I would have gone with 100% instead, but maybe this will keep me from going wild and looking for 1000HP on a stock parts engine. When I started to build the turbo kit I found that I had a cracked exhaust manifold so when ahead and order AFE stock replacements manifolds to go with my ProFab tow flow up pipes. Also order a 2020 oil cooler to help cool the extra heat of the extra turbo. NOTE to anyone else putting a 2020 L5P oil cooler on and trying to use the rear oil gallery plug for a turbo oil feed you will need to use a 45 degree fitting or adapter to clear the oil cooler.
I finally got everything back together, surprisingly the truck runs very well with the SAC 45% injectors on the tune from my 30% along with the change from a 4 inch to a 5in intake. Its has never started so easy before, and the turbos spool way better than the S369 did even with a custom .83AR housing. I would like thank Levi from Turbo Performance for building me a custom hot pipe blanket getting in the mail in a day. Hoping to get to Danville on Monday for a tuning session.
