I will be doing an install of an LBZ and the matched 6 spd out of a GMC 4x4 into my motor home. I would like to lower the gear ratios of the lower gears to that of an Allison 2550 MH wide ratio trans (1st goes to 3.51:1 for example). The transfer case and tail shaft will be changed out to 2 wheel drive.
My question is: if I do that, will the transmission function and "learn" it's way to happyness or because the input shaft rpm/output shaft rpm differentials will be different than it is expecting, it will default to limp mode or lock the tranny down as it will think something is slipping or broke?
Or can the stock tcm program be changed to reflect the new gear ratios?
Here are the ratios: 2550 MH: 3.51:1, 1.90:1, 1.44:1, 1.00:1, 0.74:1, 0.64:1, reverse: -5.09:1
What are the stock ratios for the GM unit?
Thank you for your assistance.
