I may have put this in the wrong place but I need a little help from you guys. Wife's car won't start unless you jump start it. Took it to a local parts store to have it checked out. Said the battery and alternator is good. Parts guy thinks it is the starter or cables at the starter. He said when it's jump started, there is more power going to the starter so if there is a loose connection, it would still move across the gap and engage the starter. What are your thoughts? I am going to check the cables as soon as my boys go to bed. Any other suggestions on what I should check? Two vehicle family so I have to get it fixed soon. Any help is greatly appreciated.

How old is the battery. If more than 2 or 3 years old, replace. Did they put a load test on it for like 10 seconds? New Battery is good winter insurance.

Battery is just over two years old. I am not sure if the parts store load tested the battery. He said the battery voltage was around 12.5. However, could the cranking amps be so low that it wouldn't allow the car to start?

Quick update - had the battery load tested today and came up with 0 CCA. Houston we found the problem. Luckily the battery was still under warranty so I got a free one. Put it in and she starts find. So basically I am not happy with the parts store I went to last night. Probably just stick with getting parts from them (maybe). Thanks again for your suggestions!
