I wouldn't say discontinued, stopped getting them sent over from Australia is more like it. The GM and Ford cars in (and from) Australia put ours to shame. The Holden Commodore is what the G8 is based off of and it looks better and is available with a 6.0 LS3 or a 6.2. The HSV R8 is the high end model that is a available with a supercharged 6.0L LS3. Then Ford has the sporty Falcon sedan that can come with a 5.4L or a turbo 4.0L straight 6 that will put a Mustang GT to shame.
Hopefully they slap a new front end on it with a bow-tie and start importing it again.
If they are already set up to sell the car as a left hand drive, and it was so popular, why in the hell wouldn't they do it. Makes you wonder what they are thinking at GM these days - and makes me glad that I won't own anything other than a diesel - so I don't get too fired up about it. Then again a 4.5L baby Dmax would be nice to have in one....
Looks like the same basic lines as the G6 I got the wife a few months back. GM really doesn't make much sense anymore, it seems like if they have something good they ditch it.
I was looking at one of those for my wife. I seen one at the track that ran real well. It was clicking off 12's. Nice to have another sleeper in the stable!!
