All right guys i got one for y'all.
put the truck on stands 5wks ago when my trans went, at this time i disconnected the batteries. In that time i have installed a fuel sump, bd intercooler, 5/8" trans cooler lines a banks intake, polished the hot ic pipe, cleaned the radiator core and generally cleaned the engine compartment and chasis. So today i buttoned er up, dropped er down to turn it around in my garage, so i can have the room i need to get the trans out, and the thing barely runs!!! There are several codes- 0113, 0450, 0540, 0405, 0308 and 2610. Wow. What the hell happened. One thing i did as i was add dielectric grease to all the electrical connections, including the ecm and tcm, could this be my problem? Can the tune be forgotten? I checked the trouble codes and it seems like they revolve the egr system, but i bought a efi live tune shut those sensors off, now they keep poppin up even after i clear them. I have even returned the truck to the stock tune and no luck/change. The truck is idling very rough, smoking really bad, it even looks like it is spitting unburned fuel out the tailpipe. I have taken it back apart 2x looking for a reason for this, a sensor or anything. I am stumped. It just does not make sense?

Check your back injector on the drivers Side , next to the fire wall


Built motor , duel fuelers , big sticks , gtx4202r , and now a big brother

Yeah i got that one too. Just seems strange? What would cause a mis fire? Why would my truck go from running like a champ to this, i can hardly believe it.

If im not mistaken coolant smells sweet, and distinct, i have a down turned exhaust so the residue is in a nice circle on the ground, it is oil/diesel fer sure. There is no smell of coolant, burned or raw for that matter, either.

I really doubt this is the problem. I have gobs of dielectric grease on all my electrical connectors with no problems. Actually my truck did something similar to what yours did just randomly once. Couldn't find anything wrong. Fixed itself the next day. I suspected salt spray got in the connectors and added the dielectric grease. Never had the problem again.

It might be worth double checking the ECU connectors for *any* dirt, debris, or moisture. You can puck up a spray cleaner called ElectroMotive that is designed to clean connectors.

Wipe that grease off and see what happens.
You can do this if you want to, but the whole purpose of dielectric grease is to keep crap out of connectors without affecting the electrical signals. I seriously doubt this is the problem. I use lots and have never had a problem on any vehicle with it.

Misfire can be a cracked injector body. Might be over fueling #8 and making it smoke and idle like crap. Check balance rates. Is #8 maxxed out at 15 points out of spec?

I have not seen exactly where to check the injector rates with the S.P.A.D.E(autocal) from duramaxtuner, im told it can be done, idk how? Its too late right meow to mess with it, i have a email into bob/nick @dt ro see if they will walk me through it. I sure hope injectors arent bad!!! OMG, i would be f'd. It ran perfect, when i parked it, perfect. Can that really happen, i figured injectors would go bad progressively, or while it was running at least. Not, shut it off all happy and smiles, start er up to smoke, knocks and an overall feeling of i want to throw up in my mouth. Id cry if i hadn't had my tear ducts removed in the war.

I would start by removing the grease.

While the indicated use of dielectric grease calls for it to be used only on the non-metal parts of a connection, it has been shown to be effective at preventing corrosion when applied directly to the metal connectors as well. Care should be taken when using it in this way, because this application can, in some instances, cause the connection to stop working. A common reason for such a failure is that the grease has not been pushed entirely out of the way between the two points of contact.

What did you use to clean the engine compartment? Pressurized water? If so, you probably soaked the connectors.
