Well its kinda long story but just verifying my theory before I take the heads off.

Yesterday I came home from the gym with my girlfriend, I let her drive as it was leg day for me so I was beat :roflmao: . She drove back fine nothing crazy (truck is mild with mods in sig) and shut it off and parked it for the morning. This morning we got up to go get heating pellets. Upon starting it, I noticed it struggled to crank. After a second of slow cranking, it picked up and started. It sat there and smoked its ass off even after running it for 10 minutes. I thought it was awkward but it was 25* this morning so i gave it the benefit of the doubt.

I started driving it and finally the smoke stopped. Got to where I was going and checked the upper hose. HARD AS A ROCK. Cracked the bottle cap, and pressure slowly started coming out, then BOOM!!! and coolant blew every where. So after all the pressure was out, drove home with the cap loose. Let it sit for 2hrs and started it. Cranked over good, but still had white smoke when it started and hazed until I got up the road and got it warm. Water pump is pretty new. balance rates are awesome. Sound like the heads need to come off?

I am gonna pull my thermostats tomorrow and start it with the cover off and see if a side has bubbles coming up. Just looking to see if anyone has had white smoke on start up with bad gaskets before. Thanks!

The coolant hose being hard usually says head gasket, ck the oil for water too. White smoke at start up and idle also can be injector/s or bent rods. Do a balance rate on the injectors, Good luck

Upper rad hose will be hard after driving the truck. It's after letting the truck sit for some time that you don't want it to be hard. Coolant will also explode out of degas tank if you open it hot...

My truck will smoke when it's started cold out. Not sure for how long but it could also be related to your tuning and how much they're fueling.

If your not puking out coolant or loosing coolant driving your truck and your upper rad hose isn't hard after letting it sit overnight I wouldn't worry about headgaskets.

One thing to check as well Logan would be pull oil fill cap and check for puffing out the cap and look for condensation under the cap. This would indicate possible cracked head on the intake side. That would hydrolocked as well and have pressure in the hose. Smoke on start too.

Just getting a chance to check things out for the day buddy. Worked later then caught the movies with my family tonight. Good luck with it. Hopefully it is just a gasket failure.

Its always the damn head gaskets! #2 and #7 the opposite ends of the block on mine! amazing how this engine will just keep going! Just re-engineer it with ARP studs and never worry again!:thumb:
