Which way do pump timing marks go?

I was under the impression that the pump timing marks are to face up when looking at the pump from the support plate side... took one (supposedly stock) apart and found the two timing dots facing down.

What's the correct way for them to face?

Thanks

There is no correct way. They should be installed the way they came out. Allison tests these gears for noise. If a run of gears make a little too much noise they reverse the gears. I have never found that it made a difference.

I have seen them both ways, I have seen several with dots up and dots down. As mike said just reinstall the way it came out.
