Im stuck in between tony from moonshine or dustin from diesel addiction. I know a guy that has gone with tony but he has a fully built motor. Also know guys that have dustins tunning with stock trucks and also some with turbos, turbos/injectors. Question is who can give me the most out of my truck. Good thing about dustin is that he is 3hrs away and will do live tunning so truck will be tunned to its max and should be perfect.

My truck is stock except for stage 4 suncoast

Need some information
thanks

I have had Tony live tune my truck and it seems like he is really able to get the most out of it from the passenger seat. That being said, if you have the opportunity to have Dustin live tune the truck, I think that would be a good option.

thanks, yeah being able to tune it from the passenger seat is what im thinking will be the best for the money vs getting tunes emailed to me. I have heard great stuff about both people. any idea on the horsepower level? i have heard 525-575?

You need to fill out your signature. What year truck is it and what else is done to it? Lift pump, any intake mods, exhaust?? Even with a good setup and supporting mods, stock fuel and turbo rarely make much more than 525-550. That is the upper limit of what you could expect.

EDIT: I just noticed this is in the LBZ section. Still need supporting mods listed.

Go with the tuner who can sit in your truck on a dyno and live tune it. That will yield the best results.

Where it is basically a stock truck I don't think you can go wrong. You shouldn't need anything special. Just talk to both of them and see who you feel most comfortable with. I've talked to both and wouldn't hesitate running either of their stuff.

My little story: The truck I bought a couple months ago (in my sig) came with Dustin's tuning. I bought it from North Carolina and the previous owner said he had it tuned at DA. Perhaps it wasn't all in the tuning (boost leaks etc), but the truck ran really dirty and didn't feel any faster (maybe even slower) than my built trans/stock turbo/stock fuel LLY and that was at sea level. It got worse as I gained altitude.

I got some tunes from Tony and though I haven't put many miles on it, I have taken it on some highway runs, the truck runs cleaner and feels better than it did at sea level.

That being said, Dustin was more than helpful on the phone but I just decided on a different route. I haven't even began to take advantage of Tony's tunes.

I had better luck with da tuning then moonshine. I couldn't get it to boost good and with it being a locked tune made it such a pain to get updates I finally have up. But alot of people are more then happy with Tony's tune

For anyone who is concerned about live vs. emailed tunes, I have a LB7 and I have an LBZ, so as far as stock truck/live tuning unless you have a unicorn I have a tune for you as well as access to LLY and LMM trucks and even other LML trucks.

I have sat in no less than 300+ custom built trucks over the last eight years and there is not a combination I have not seen or tuned at many elevations as well.

To comment on the issue of locked tuned and being a pain to make changes, you hire a professional tuner and lock your work down so that you don't have the owner in your tune playing around with tables, then calling you telling you something isn't right and then you have to go back in and see what they changed, plus it is intellectual property cannot be copied, shared, sold etc when you take steps to protect your work, because we know everyone isn't out to make a buck these days off someone else.

As far as boost issues and complaints about them, there is an issue with the VVT trucks which means if you ask for more boost at low rpms then the truck can deliver it will throw a P0299, in the case of many LMM's this will cause the Reduced Engine Power to display a message and sometimes cause weird issues.

So you can only give anyone what the truck can give you, you can ask it for a big boost number down low or up high in the rpm, whether or not it makes it is a different story.

Just like you can't get a TCM to start in second gear in just one DSP tune which I get asked to do a lot to do by sled pullers..............;)

Both Dustin and I are resellers and I travel to North Carolina at least every 6-8 weeks and will be there from this sunday thru next friday.

:D

Negating distance....what made you weed out other great tuners....ie. Kory Willis @ PPEI? I've heard amazing things about his tuning too.

(I've been running Dustin's tuning for 6 years)
