After reading many posts about which converter do I buy and all the confusion about stall speeds, lockup or no lockup and harshness. I have a idea to propose to help people that dont understand to understand converters.

Why not have a video thread where people can post a short clip of their truck with specs posted and what converter they are using driving in various methods. This may help people make a better converter decision based on shown performance on any given truck with any given setup. :hmm:

Is it possible to post on Youtube and link to a thread, I have seen this done in other forum threads.

First, sorry but you gotta take your business name and contact info out of your sig until you contact Kat and become a supporting vendor.

Second there are so many combinations of parts that can go on these truck that it really wouldn't make your decision any easier. On top of that the biggest differences you will see from one converter to another are going to be the stall speed and how it couples coming out of the hole - which you really have to feel the difference, a video won't really show you.

For the average performance Duramax with a stock to medium sized turbo the Precision Industries ML converter is the best choice in my opinion. It is still very drivable with a smooth lock-up and nice towing. But when you put the power to it it comes alive - the fluid coupling on it out of the hole is just awesome.

Your best choice is to speak with the guy building your transmission - if he has any business building your Allison he should know what converter will be the best choice for you and able to explain why. Not just "I've heard the B&M is good" or "I saw a BD Diesel ad in Diesel Power that said theirs is best". More like "the 1054 would be too tight for what you are wanting to do with the truck, a 1056 would be better" or "the Precision Industries SP converter would be perfect for your truck with that 3.0 charger"
