Hey Guys,

I am seriously thinking of moving in the next year, I have had it with the Blue Northeast.

I am looking at a moving to a solid Red State, a warm state, Texas is on the short list.

Help a Yankee out and tell me where I should be looking and where I shouldn't.

Thanks,

Tony

Small cities 100,000 - 200,000 people, San Angelo or Abilene hard to beat, Large cities San Antonio is hard to beat and easy to get around in. Little towns, just about anywhere in Texas. What type of climate and amenities are you looking for.

FWIW, my wifes a transplant from Maine and loves it here :D

I really like the look of north texas, at least the parts I've been to. It's not a desert, land is nice and what not. Plus I like the laws in texas!!

I am a native Texan, and have traveled all of the state and lived in many parts of it.

If I could move back there today, it would in the San Antonio area. There are a lot of nice communities there. I particularly like the areas North and Northwest of town.

Obama won't take Texas without a fight, I want to be there if the shit hits the fan.

Mexicans are everywhere, including here in CT.

What kind of environment are you looking for?
Big city or small town?

Small Town close to a Big City

Do you have kids in school?

One is heading to college at Wake Forest, NC,
One is going to be a Junior, one is heading into 8th grade, so schools will be important

There are alot of great places here in Texas, just depends on what kind of life your looking for.

Near a Lake would be great, always wanted a boat just didn't want it dry-docked 6 months out of the year.

I would love to live in Texas

Come on with it.

I was born and raised here in Stephenville Tx(60 miles south west of Ft.Worth) and like it alot pop-16,000 without the college students.Anywhere around central Texas is nice. The laws in Texas are ok, I do know that if you get caught cattle wrestling, legaly you can still be hanged:).But they wont do that to ya.;)

Overall Texas is a very nice place, just dont go to far west:rofl:

Depends on where you go in Texas. I don't know if any of you fellow Texans have ever been to Lampassas but the people in that town are a bunch of A-holes. They have no courtesy to outsiders whatsoever.
