I know some of you guys are detail fanatics so I'll ask here..

What's best to take care of a new set of wheels? I just got my motometals in today and they will be on the truck soon. Winter is out of the way hopefully so I don't see any salt problems, and hoping to have another rig to drive in winter next year.

I'm curious on how to keep them shining and easy to clean. Does anyone wax the wheel surface? If so what with? I plan to try and keep this truck clean as I can, but living down a 1/2 mile of gravel doesn't help when it rains.

Suggestions?

Buy some Shine Seal from Summit racing. It works very good. Use their bio clean that cones with it and cleaning weekly.

I got a local professional detailer to coat mine with Opticoat pro. Its basically a clear coat that you apply like a wax and he said my wheels should be good without excessive maintenance now. He used professional grade stuff that only a liscensed detailer can get which he said is a lot better than the stuff you can buy online.

Didn't think of asking a detail shop.. I'll run by my buddies shop and ask him.

Well my buddy didn't have any suggestions, he has been out of the detail game for about 10 years.

If you can track Cliff down he would know as long as he wasn't strung out on the wrong stuff that day... I personally think he was one of the best detailers for hundreds of miles around!

I don't really think there is a school per se. He has proven that he is capable and understands how to properly do paint restoration and so the chemical guys approve him to use there stuff. Kinda like a shop can be a authorized ATS or Suncoast installer.

He used to do some amazing stuff when he was on adderol! Seems that meth was a bit more than he could handle, but maybe he has straightened up a little since I see him a year or two ago.

Dumb question, but serious. Do you do detail work? (Going by username here) I wouldn't mind taking it to a reputable detail shop once a year for a deep clean and your not far away

Mostly looking for something to help keep it clean, kind of like waxing a truck. Hoping I keep em clean enough not to need a deep clean.

Nice! I have black wheels on my truck and am over it. Got my eyes open for a nice set of chrome ones with good tires that someone wants to trade even up.

I like the look of black wheels, everyone has them though.. Truck looks good!
