nope! The Tick Tock at st lawrence university (the "st lawrence country club" haha, small liberal arts school, only like 1800 kids)... canton, NY. (wayyy UPstate, like 20 minutes from canada) Most unique craziest awesomest bar on earth. You dont talk to people there, you yell. Even when its -20* outside during the winter its 95* inside, and its impossible to move around. Music ridiculously loud (I knew all the student bar tenders so I would always make sweet CD mixes with flo-rida and kesha and all that other good fist-pumping shit) and all the sorority girls are usually up dancing on the pool table. I dont think an actual game of pool has been played on it in at least 15 years??? The ceiling is really low so if you're up on the pool table you cant even come close to standing up all the way. Its kind of a funny contradiction of sorts because the place itself is so sketchy/trashy/sticky looking inside and out, yet its packed full of kids in buttondown shirts and preppy stuff like that. The bartenders' t-shirts say "TIP THE BARTENDERS OR DIE OF THIRST" and "TICK TOCK - there are no strangers here, only friends you havent met yet!"
You can pretty much act like a complete goofball there and go crazy (at least I did, dancing on the pool table with half a dozen girls to "party in the USA"...yeah....actually I think thats what I was doing in my facebook profile picture) because you pretty much know everyone there, so its not like anyone is going to judge you...and when you blacked out and made out with random girls it never turned into a bad situation because "whatever we're all from slu so we're guaranteed to have some mutual friends, we're like family...kinda"
Its an acquired taste I guess, some people hate it, but its probably just because its too much for them to handle...most likely. :baby: There was one other bar up there (the hoot owl), but its a 21+ 'traditional' bar where you relax and hang out...another fun place I guess, and every tuesday night there was $1 labatt blue bottles ("senior blues"), but it was
definitely no shitshow like the good old tick tock was every thursday/friday/saturday night.
Unfortunately I have yet to find another bar in the [new york] city or otherwise that quite captures the same feeling.......hmmmmm
