i have started to toss around the idea of selling my truck once it is fully back together and running good (wouldnt sell someone a truck that i wouldnt drive). i was just wondering what someone would pay for it. here is whats done to is

it is a 2004.5 LLY Ex Cab Short bed pewter
miles - 125,xxx
truck is leather fully loaded minus sunroof and dvd/nav system 3.73 gears 4x4.

motor - Carllio rods, SoCal Pistons (stock bore with valve release in them) h bearings, head and main studs, WD lv 3 CP3, Diesel Addiction 100% injectors, Mitusa lift pump, cam and head work has not been decided on yet (but will either go with SoCal or Greg Hogue for the valve springs and cam) and stock turbo unless i buy a S466 from Trent so he can twin it later for me ( or the person who buys the truck)

trans - Diesel Addiction Signature Series (pretty much the same trans Dustin ran 10s with) 1058 SC TC, deep pan, Mike L trans cooler

TC - stock with Merchant pump rub fix.

i can get pics for people who are interested. i will either take cash or trade and cash. for trade looking to get a Yukon or Tahoe or RC/LB Dmax (the dmax has to be 100% stock if it doesnt have a built trans)

You are FAR better off not doing a built engine... say the engine from beginning to running costs you 15,000$ no buyer is going to pay 15,000$ for it. PLUS! The market for a truck like that is dramatically smaller than one with a 125,000 mile truck and a built trans. But say you do build the engine to then only sell the truck i'd say it would pull in somewhere in the high 20's to low 30's. Out west you would probably see a solid low 30's. The way it works is when you go to sell it you generally lose 50% just the way it is.

in California your truck stock is valued at 19,400$ so a built trans minus 50% is 2,000$ maybe another 1,000$ in misc. upgrades and lift pump you're sitting at 22,400 as the truck sits with a running engine.... so ok say you add your 15,000$ engine in the equation and if it has very low miles on it when you sell it might get you 7,000$ - 9,000$ so ya around here you will see high 20's to low 30's:D but remember the value of your truck will continue to depreciate as the more miles are put on it and the older it gets but you knew that already man LOL

yea i know that Nick, the wife has just been getting at me lately about my truck and was just wondering what someone would pay for it if i did happen to give in to her and sell it. but i dont think 30k is to high by any means. there are other for sale threads with truck with alot less mods then mine and asking the same.

Justin, you need to stop talking all crazy like this.

But if you do decide to sell, dont build the engine. Thats nutz. You're better off finding a decent stock engine/trans and put them in. Then sell your built trans separately.

Right now book values don't mean anything. Around here ( southeast). Take the book value and add 4 to 5k to it. That's for a stock truck. Stealership offered me 16.5k for my 2001 2500hd ext cab 4x4 175k miles on it. That was trade in value. My point is the market is really screwy right now. The book values are not what stuff is actually selling for.

Yeah don't build the motor! Sorry if my other post was a bit unclear. Typing on an iPad.
