Okay just like the title says what twins should I run I would like to run a rather small turbo and a rather large turbo for across the rpm range performance.

The goal for this truck is 550 horses. I know there are singles out there capable of this but I am going to be towing a lot and I want to keep those EGT's as cool as possible! I of course plan on other mods but what twin setup is the best for the buck?

Just run an s475 over your stock if you're looking for 550hp but I know people making a lot more than that with this setup.

What have you done to the truck now?

Do you plan on utilizing the stock turbo for your twin set up?

Are you planning on performance injectors?

I think alot of guys run an S472 over the stock IHI LB7 turbo....

How much do you have to spend?

Your gonna need a built trans, among other things, to hold 550

As of now the only thing is CAI ,exhaust, and boost valve.

I plan on using the stock turbo but with a Batmo-wheel compressor wheel.

I'm planning on small ones if I do!

Right now not much I'm putting myself through diesel tech school at the moment so with tools and tuition I'm a little strapped at the moment!

Dont waste your money on the Batmo...not enough gain for the effort/cost. Buy an S475 kit and twin the stocker and you'll hit your goal, and save money in the long run.

Porting the stocker will net you 30 more horse to the rear wheels on the IHI. Check out the thread "Porting the IHI" by Yellowchevy

I would do the 475 also:thumb:

For 550hp, put a 475 on top of that stocker. If you want to tow at that level, your gunna need a lot more junk to keep that thing cool and use all the power on tap.

A 475 over stock is good for 750hp with the fuel to push it. Port and polish the stocker and put a bigger 80mm wheel in the big charger and you can gain even more. What that number is, I'm not sure of yet but will find out soon hehe

550 is pushing into "you should be concerned" territory on an LB7, so thats entirely up to you.
Building it now gives you a good base in case you decide to upgrade in the future (which I bet is more likely than not).

Also should I have the engine built for that horse I know rods are probably a great idea but what else?

Engine oil cooler, oil temp gauge, trans cooler, and make sure your engine coolant cooling system is in top shape.

Built engine is a good idea as well if yourgunna beat on it

When you say this do you mean I should be concerned it its not built or I should be concerned even if is built. I'm totally looking for advise here

He means be concerned with it not being built. Towing on that hp is really gunna put a hurting on the rods if you do too many wot runs

For you for now, I would suggest to get a good twin filter lift pump and a good efi live tune for a stock trans, then build the trans, then get your tune modified for the built trans, then get the S475 twin kit. From there build the engine, or start buying parts, you can run tons of ponies on a de lipped cut and coated LB7 piston, add a good set of rods and you can hit 700whp with ease, with the right turbo(s) and fuel.

Maybe you can work a deal out with the school to build your trans and engine:woott:

That would be way cool:thumb:

I baby the hell out of this truck! (Unless there's a pretty girl aside of me :roflmao:) but I would never WOT it at that power level without a built engine and fully built trans.
