My truck is my daily driver.. I want to data log when I sled pull this summer really just to see if I hold rail pressure. I have ATP tunes that my buddy installed with his v2. So I bought a license at that point so he could do that.

I'm not looking to spend a ton of money just to data log once or twice so my questions are what are my options to log? I see a edge cs2 can log for 300 new. I was also looking at a used auto Cal for an option. If I bought a used auto Cal would I need to also buy a license to log with it on my truck?

Agree that the EDGE CTS2 is the best option but if you can find an Autocal for cheap you can data log with that. No need to buy a new vin license or anything to datalog.

I've been trying to do some reading on getting a used autocal. If i ever wanted to install different tunes it would be better to have that than a CTS. I would need a new license to do that from what I understand. The part I'm confused about is does it matter what the autocal was used for before? ( Duramax or Cummins). Also I read somewhere that the autcsl may need to be released by the tuner? If I bought a used one and didn't know the previous tuner or what make it was used on would I be screwed? I'm possibly confusing some info with the v2 not an autocal

Thanks guys for the help.... I'm just trying to get all my facts so I don't buy a cheap used one and costs me a ton to be able to make it work.

From what I know knowledge wise is that a V2 is sometimes locked to an autocal. In order to unlock to be able to put different tuning on the autocal you have to know the original tuner of the autocal and have them do it. I believe that autocals for both cummins and duramax are the same but on V2s are different unless you have a blue 1 which does both.

Long story short if you find a used autocal whether for cummins of duramax, know whos tuning was on it prior.
