Typically what takes out the stock converter? Is it boosted launches or is it the attempt to lockup up under high torque situations( towing, WOT,etc..) I see lot's of reference to trashing the converter but no real reference to what did the initial damage. My LMM is a 2wd truck so no boosted launches for me.. I do however daily drive with my DSP5 set on 4 with Kory's tunes. I find that the truck drives easier and the tranny shifts cleaner( more seemless) than on the lower settings(also gets better mileage).. I have 98,000 miles on it and I have never seen the tranny temp over 180*F and never limped it.. Next time I change the tranny fluid I would like to install a transgo jr to add some insurance... Just curious about the Torque converter situation...

lack of clutch surface area which leads to slippage when the power is increased. But that really is one of the many different reasons why they aren't up to the job. :thumb:

my stock converter would shudder in 5th gear when I rolled into the throttle but seemed to function ok as far as launching and locking up. I'd probably say lugging your motor with allot of torque kills them quicker than most anything.
