I think this is the Axxess product I used; http://retailer.installationexcelle...0324&sid=7773DF4E-2D50-4254-8148-0BFCB18C23CC

With the steering wheel interface; http://www.axxessinterface.com/products.aspx?s=ASWC

It gives you volume control for chimes (I put mine almost silent) :thumb: and volume control for Onstar.

I competely bypassed Bose :thumb:

I ran the A/V inputs at the RSE down to the head unit aux input and the A/V output from the head unit back up to the RSE. I can watch the front DVD on the rear and the rear DVD on the front too.

One thing with the Kenwood 6980, the rear camera and nav video is not available for A/V out :( Get their flagship for that.

i dont care about onstar or my steering controls really, why would you bypass the bose?

I do plan on putting a amp and sub in it though

The Bose speakers and amp are impedance matched at 6 ohms IIRC so neither is really compatible with aftermarket. The Bose door speakers fail regularily and I had already upgraded mine (which sounded bad connected to the Bose amp).

Running a good aftermarket deck through the Bose amp is counterproductive IMHO especially considering the Bose speakers aren't going to last.

I don't subscribe to Onstar but if I get stranded in the wilderness my hope is they'll still answer a 911 call for help

It's not too bad, about an extra hour or two; you need to extend the deck speaker wires down to the center console. Cut the factory harness speaker wires coming out of the Bose amp (I have the colors written down somwhere from my 03) and splice them together.

The line in and line out for the RSE was more involved :thinking2: but I have pics of that if you want.

How does it sound?

My notes for the Bose amp output are not legible from the rain

All I did was pull the rubber grommets away from each door to check the color of the speaker wires.

why would you prefer deck power? most aftermarket radio's don't have a very powerful amp (25watts per channel if you're lucky) and the aftermarket speakers you will probably use will sound much better if you are within 75% of their rated RMS power. I would use a good quality 4 channel amp to run the front and back speakers (if you run components front and rear). Then a good class D for a sub amp. Just a suggestion. And this type of setup won't win you any sound off competitions, just good clean sound.

That would be fine. I have an older Alpine head unit that has the V-Drive amp in it. I just felt better using a separate 4 channel amp than using the one in the radio. Feel I have better control and adjustment with the separate amp. Which Alpine model are you looking at?

i currently have the iva-w200 i think, in dash dvd. Guys i got my dash kit from said they have a alpine deal that make it go from 25 watt to 75, for 1/4 price of a 4 channel amp. Id love to have a nice setup but id rather put money in go fast vs tunes , i already had the dvd player so it only cost me 90 to get it all put in and it sounds pretty decent

The specs on the radio are 18watts RMS (50 peak). I've never heard of a deal that can take deck power and increase it. Do you have a model number for this device? If this device does exist, I will learn something new and appreciate you telling me (us) about it. If it doesn't, you need to ask for your money back.

If the current setup works for you and sounds good, then don't change a thing. I'm all about the go fast goodies too so I understand where you're coming from. Good luck with the rest of your setup and update your signature as you get more go fast goodies put on. :thumb:
