Hey guys, I am visiting USA next friday for a few weeks.

I would like to purchase part to build my LBZ when i get back to australia. My goal is to make 800rwhp on Diesel and maybe spray it latter down the track.

I have done 7000miles in the last 2.5 years so i dont drive it all that much. Its not a daily driver, no towing i like to drag race it and stir up locals on the street.

So what do people think would be a list of parts required. So i can organise them when i get there to take home with me. I would like real world comparisons from people who have done this. Or been very close to a build.

This is what i was think from the research i have done.

Twins turbos of some sort. Small and Large chargers, What options?
Rods: Carillos/crowers/etc Whats best value for money
Pistons: Cut/coated Factory Piston of the best model. Any compression Suggestions.
Cam. What are people running with what results?
Studs ARP studs
Twin cp3 PPE or are the stroker CP3s getting good results.
Injectors or Nozzels what the go?
Gaskets and seals required.

If anyone could give me an idea on cost of parts so i know what sort of budget to look at that would be appreciate also. PM prices are fine.

I know i have forgot something, thats why i am asking you guys who have done this before.

Thanks Heath. :thumb:

Now im not no pro Im just a pee-on who knows enough to be dangerous but with the twin setup if it was me I would go with Garret turbos for the small something like a GT42 then big turbo GT55 I think pat runs something like this on casper.
Cam-I think you could leave stock.
Fuel-PPE Dual fuelers with a lift pump FASS,AIRDOG,PPE.
Rods-Crower has been put up to the test with great results so they are good rods.
Injectors-100% over
Might want to try some water injection to help with heat also

you dont need a 42 over a 55 for 800hp. thats more of a 1k hp setup. i like my s300 over gt47. but if i hadtn got such a good deal on my gt47, i would probably do s300 over s480. they are cheaper and perform well. make sure to get a stainless turbine housing for the s300 because it has the big wastegate pucks.
Rods: Carillos/crowers/etc Whats best value for money
they are all pretty much the same price (2700) i like my carrillos a lot. they are the lightest rod on the market. but you cant go wrong with any of them really.
Pistons: Cut/coated Factory Piston of the best model. Any compression Suggestions.
lb7 pistons are the best. im running 16.1.1 some run less, i dont have any starting problems even when its cold and not plugged in.
Cam. What are people running with what results?
stock with twins will be fine for what your wanting
Studs ARP studs
headstuds
Twin cp3 PPE or are the stroker CP3s getting good results.
do twin cp3. easier to tune rather then messing with modded regulators and such
Injectors or Nozzels what the go?
run guys if you can afford it. 60-100 over. heck 45 overs can get you to 800
Gaskets and seals required.
guy at socal can get you everything you need.

Injectors you can get by with having your stock ones reworked and flowed and balance. But I would get a new set to have done that way you know you are working with new bodies. Because it can get pricey if you have to replace cracked injector bodies.

X2 good sound advice listed above , my truck with this similar list made about 800 and could have gotten a bit more out of it if i could have played more on my stock motor my parts list was .

MPI twins S366 on top of a S480
PPE dual Fuelers
Big Dipper 45% over injectors
Lift pump
RDL Headers/ up-pipes
Intercooler

For motor I chose cut LB7 pistons , stock cam , head studs , Howards X beam rods , Keyed cam and crank , Up graded valve springs and retainers , and Billet injector hold downs are a good idea also .

thanks

Thanks for the replies guys, Keep the info coming.

Ok so he is what i am leaning towards.

Carillos/Crowers Rods
Cut 16:1 Compression LB7 pistons,
Stock cam.
Headstuds,
main studs,
Twins with s300 ss and s480. I am mount turbos one each side of motor. So i can free up some space for inlet manifold mods.
PPE dual fueller.
45% injectors or larger depends on how the budget.

Can i get a master gasket kit for the rebuild or do i need to source all the bit?

I already have lift pumps, ATS exhaust manifolds, Custom intercooler, and a few bits and pieces.

Are you going to try to run them parallel or compound? If parallel, you should get two turbos the same size. If compound, you would probably want them on the same side of the engine if one isn't in the valley. That would keep the plumbing to a minimum and should be more efficient.

Heath,

I'd be happy to help you with everything you need. If we are going to do injectors, I need a little advance notice. At 800 rwhp, I recommend at least 60% over.
