I read a bunch of posts where people always say that lockup boxes are recommended if peoples trucks wont lock in 2nd gear with tow haul. Just curious as to why it is? iv tried a few different os's and none of them lock my truck in 2nd. its always right after the 3-4 shift. But other trucks I see will lock right up in 2nd. Just curious. Thanks

Does your tow haul light come on? If you have a way to scan it.... Log turbine vs input speed, and tcc duty cycle. That will tell if you it's not locking when it's supposed to, or if its just not signaling a lock up command.

If there is 500 RPM or more difference between the turbine and output speed sensor; the TCM will not command TCC.

I believe it's efi lives next release... But you will be able to change the slip speed locking linter. I have mine set at 650 right now on my daily driver. Iirc you will be able to set slip speed with force lock up to 1100rpm.

So your saying this will eliminate the need for a lockup box? When will this release be out?

Mike is this different in each truck depending on how loose the converter is? I currently have a precision ml but I really want to go to a 1058 and do a 366 on my truck.

Other than not needing to have an accessory lock up box to command lock up, is there any difference between a L/U box and what the updated EFI-L software does?

Efi live can not command unlock when you want it for sled pulling. There is also more delay in WOT lock up than a box set with next to no delay based on what I've read from others

Interesting... Thanks James :)
So a box is still the better option from a pure performance standpoint?

It's cool that the option is there now through EFI-L tho

Just depends on you and your setup. All I have to go off of is the efi live lock up and it fits my setup well.
